VmWare ICM 5.1 vs F5 Configuring BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM) v11

Any opinion on the is Class ?

Have to choose between VmWare 5.1 and F5 Configuring BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM) v11 !

Any advice would be helpful !

Just for information - Neither helps in my current role. I think F5 would be helpful in my intention to go for a Infosec career down the line.

VmWare keeps happening and is not very expensive in India. Costs me about 1000$ for the class and the exam. So that's alright when F5 costs me 3995$.

Having a foundation in the technology that runs most of the world's cloud infrastructure woudl be ideal, IMO. Go with the VMware course.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

F5 is getting really hot. I had a briefing recently where they stated 80% of all Fortune 500 companies have F5 equipment somewhere on the network.

VMware is in 98% of the Fortune 1000. F5 has actually lost market share of the last 2 years to Citrix and Riverbed.

I've done the F5 course it's pretty good, although I'd go with VMware course, since it's a requirement for the VCP, might as well get it out of the way now while you have a chance.

Thank you for the insight !

I am trying to get into a VmWare class in January Next year. If that gets approved I do both !

F5 certs pay good in India. There are a lot of VCP's but not a lot of F5 guys.

Today I shall decide after my Boss approves.

In that case, go for the VCAP :)
