Hi,
One of my new client has 3 PIX, 1 515 and 2 506. I don't know much about PIX so i need to have a good reference book. Not one to pass the PIX cert, just a reference book. Does someone has a good one to recommend me?

Webmaster Admin Posts: 10,292 AdminThe Cisco cert guides are usually good reference books imo, but Cisco press has a 'handbook' as well:

mickeypendu Member Posts: 1 ■□□□□□□□□□I have two books which I use for PIX support:
1. CCSP-Self Study Cisco Secure PIX FW Advanced 2nd Edition
This book is really the cisco course CSPFA v3.2 (which has now been updated to include new software update v7, SNPA). Therefore new books, see point 2. It is very complete and covers all aspects which you will find during day to day support although like any good Cisco Book does seem to over do it parts. However there is no mention of the new capture feature (introduced in Pix v6.2) which allows you to capture and analyze network traffic (a must when troubleshooting)
See cisco document for some explanation on this:
Establishing Connectivity Through Cisco PIX Firewalls
Document ID: 15245
2. Bought Cisco ASA and FW Handbook by David Hucaby.
Firstly I have used his book CCNP "BCSMSN" Exam Cert Guide and found it very good.
Secondly it covers the new upgrade to Pix software to ver 7. No clients yet using this but will be in the future plus I am looking to do CSSP so I thought I would start reading now.
Finally the book is a good read and am currently still working through it.
Hope this helps
