hi
can i configure the router to be fully accessed using telnet but the password of the router can only be changed using console? this is for teaching purpose as i want students to access the router and try the commands but with this restriction.

I dont believe so, but not 100% sure, more like 99%. There are mysteriuos thing that you can do with IOS, see if one of they uber-cisco guys reply.

You can do this if you enable a Tacacs+ server. Or you insert a user privilege list on each router. But, as an instructor... it would be hard to do since you do want to teach your students what reloading and configuring a router from scratch.

thanks for all your replies, i am going to make a backup of the IOS ,but is there any advices or tips to protect the routers?
