Hello All ,

I'm a newbie here and I wanted to see if I can get some pointers here. I'm going to start taking some CCNA training and then move to my CCNP ,But I also would like to include VOIP and wireless. I have some old equipment my job has given me to make myself a Home Lab, but I need help on what I need to keep and what I don't need to accomplish my goal here.

Thanks for the advise Mike B

1- 2520 router
1- 2610 with a 4 A/S serial card & a VWIC 2FMT-T1 card
1- 2610 empty ( will get a 2WIC serial card )
1- 1841 router w/ 1 serial and 1 T-1 card
1- 1841 router w/ 1 ASDL card and T1 card
2- Catalyst 3500 24 port Switch ( non POE )
1- Catalyst 2950 48 port switch
1- 2821 with 3 T1 cards
1- 871W router
1- AP1252G wireless AP
1- AP 1231G wireless AP

Also found at work
2 -1720 routers
1- PIX 506E ( need power supply )
1- PIX 515
1- PIX 515E
1- 1721 with a T1 card
1- 1601 w/ T1 card
1- 1601R w/ T1 card

I still need all the serial cables to tie in together , will order soon. I also have a Edgeport (8 port box ) for all the console ports. Figure this would be cheaper than buying a Terminal server?

there is so much info out on the web regarding this very same topic, that it can be overwhelming. I recently started building my lab as well, so aside from the link below, I don't have much info.

That is a great lab depending on the IOS images your working with and the WIC cards your working with, that seems to be a great layout of the NP :)

You might want to consider investing in two layer 3 switches. The 2950 and 3500 both do no not support it.

Yes, you could do with some 3550/3560's in there.

I just dropped a LOT of money on gear, mainly to get 4 decent switches and a ton of routers :D

Ahh yes, for some reason I thought you meant 3500 series switches, like 3550 or 3560. Two of those would do you good :)
