I have the MS Press 70-417 book which is a bit thin compared to other similar books, although a few seemed to have passed using that source of material.
Any recomendations on the following Sybex book:
MCSA Windows Server 2012 Complete Study Guide: Exams 70-410, 70-411, 70-412, and 70-417
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Windows-Server-Complete-Study-Guide/dp/1118544072/ref=pd_sim_b_1
Any good for the 70-417? looking to do the upgrade exam rather than separate as I've got the 2008 MCSA.

I too upgraded from the 2008 MCSA. I know that MSPress 70-417 book appears thin on material but it really is a great resource assuming you are still solid on what the previous exams tested on. It was by far the easiest MS exam I've sat.
What I suggest focusing one for the upgrade exam, other than obviously any new 2012 features mentioned in the exam objectives, is every one of the exam tip sections in the 70-417 book and the questions they could pertain to.
I swear it's no coincidence I could almost match many specific test questions directly to those exam tips. I actually went back to the book and was just thinking wow.. so spot on.Courses Left for WGU BS - IT: NA:
Finished!
