Thinking about moving there early next year in jan/feb, how is the job market here? I have a few years in a help desk role looking to get a desktop job, what is the job market like? I googled unemployment rate and it seems to be OK

You probably shouldn't have a problem getting work in Denver or Boulder. Be willing to do straight contract work for a time while you look for a regular W2 position.

It's pretty good around the Denver Tech Center. Other areas are not nearly as good. Overall its pretty decent.

A lot of people end up working some form of IBM Global Services contract out of Boulder, there is some HP presence as well. CenturyLink and Level III are always looking for support engineers, VMWARE has a fairly large tech support presence between Denver and Broomfield. Oracle has a large campus in Broomfield as well. Brocade, Cisco, Microsoft, etc all have a good presence in the region.

There are plenty of jobs. Consider going to craigslist: denver classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events. Plenty of jobs posted there. Also, if you are on LinkedIn, connect with the Denver Technology Professionals group. I'll be going to their meeting tomorrow, so I should come away with several more contacts. I live an hour outside of Denver and jobs do seem good around the Denver area. Unfortunately for me, I may have to commute to Denver for a good job. I work at a low-level help desk job so my next job will be a better company that has a lot more room for growth. I was looking around the Fort Collins area but didn't see as many jobs for that and other IT-related jobs as in Denver.
