Hi All
Just curious to see what peoples targets are for next year?
Did you achieve what you set out to achieve this year?
I wanted MCSA Win 7 this year and I'm going for 70-685 shortly to hopefully complete
I'm looking at ITIL Foundation and 70-410 for 2014
Regards

JasminLandry Member Posts: 601 ■■■□□□□□□□Good luck on the 70-685!! I actually past it this past weekend, it you're good at troubleshooting, you'll pass without a doubt!!
I put my 2013 certification goals and accomplishments in my signature below.
My 2014 main goals are: Linux+ & MCSA: Windows Server 2008. If I have more time than expected, I'd like to take the VCP5-DCV and CEHv8 at the end of the year. We'll see how it goes -
TechGuy215 Member Posts: 404 ■■■■□□□□□□I'm pretty much done for 2013, just have to finish up the CISSP (which I expect to have completed by 12/13). Next year is the year of GIAC and ISACA, plan to tackle quite a few of these certs:

GCIH
CISM* Currently pursuing: PhD: Information Security and Information Assurance
* Certifications: CISSP, CEH, CHFI, CCNA:Sec, CCNA:R&S, CWNA, ITILv3, VCA-DCV, LPIC-1, A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+, Project+, and many more...

Qord Member Posts: 632 ■■■■□□□□□□I did not finish anything I had originally hoped for, but that's OK. Plans change. My only goal for next year is to finish my degree, which will be very tough but doable. Well, that and remove all the wallpaper from downstairs but that's a challenge of patience and motivation, and not of technical savvy. 2015 will be my time for hopping back onto the cert wagon I think.I thought these types of posts were banned until after thanksgiving?

Iristheangel Mod Posts: 4,133 Mod2014 Goals:
CCNP Security
CCDA
CCDP (Longshot?)
And finish my capstone for my MSISA. I have the tendency to make ambitious goals. I don't always live up to them (see: this year). We'll see if next year is less crazy..... -
MrAgent Member Posts: 1,310 ■■■■■■■■□□The only exam I took this year was the CEHv7, which I passed in March. I planned to just focus on my graduate classes, but now my current company is sending me to Redhat training in a couple of weeks and they want me to pass RHCSA. So it looks like Ill be working on that for the next couple of weeks. As far as next year... keep on trucking with my grad classes, and maybe working on CISSP or CASP.

BGraves Member Posts: 339Ahh I love this thread! It's great to see so many motivated individuals!
I'm looking at doing CWTS Nov, CCNA Security Jan, try to get a BICSI ITS Installer 1 out of Tampa in Feb/Mar, and then considering CWNA, GSEC, Linux+, OSCP, and possibly a Master's program somewhere! Thinking a Info Sec/MBA type of deal, not sure where yet! (Holding out for SANS STI Accreditation!) -
JoJoCal19 Mod Posts: 2,835 ModThis year was a success for everything that I had on my plate. I finished my BS in Business Administration and graduated in May. Went right to studying for and passed the CISSP in September. Now I am working on the ITIL Foundations and will have that sometime in November. The only thing I won't get done that was kind of a bonus goal for this year is one of the ISACA certs.
For 2014 I will be doing the CCENT in January (will start studying for it next month after I pass ITIL Foundations). Then I will do the CEH right after that. After that it's CCNA Security, CISM or CISA in June and the other in December. I am looking at starting WGU MSISA in January and if I do, the CCENT and CEH will be a part of that. I always like to set bonus goals that if I get to do then it's just icing on the cake, so that would be either learning Python, or doing one of the more involved pentest certs like OSCP or eCPPT.Have: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, eJPT, GCIA, GSEC, CCSP, CCSK, AWS CSAA, AWS CCP, OCI Foundations Associate, ITIL-F, MS Cyber Security - USF, BSBA - UF, MSISA - WGU
Currently Working On: Python, OSCP Prep
Next Up: OSCP
Studying: Code Academy (Python), Bash Scripting, Virtual Hacking Lab Coursework -
jvrlopez Member Posts: 913 ■■■■□□□□□□* CISSP due NLT summertime.
* CCNA security there after.
* BA in communications sometime during the year (Ive been telling this to my wife this for the last 3 years). I only need 4 more classes, one of which is lower level math, lol!And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. DoubleNNs Member Posts: 2,015 ■■■■■□□□□□I didn't live up to my 2013 goals. Whereas it's not too late and I technically could finish the last 2 certs, I highly doubt I will within these 2 months.
My goals for 2014:
CCNA
CCNA: Sec
MCTS Server 2008 - Net Infrastructure
Start on CCNP
Relocate out of NJ and enter the Networking section of IT
Should be easy enough considering I already started my CCNA and MCTS.Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
To-do | In Progress | Completed -
broli720 Member Posts: 394 ■■■■□□□□□□At this point, I just need more experience so that will be my main focus.

cyberguypr Mod Posts: 6,928 ModI honestly do not remember what my 2013 goals were. I do know they changed due to a new role I took. I am attending SANS 504 training next week with the goal of doing GCIH in December/January. After that I have VCP-DV in my sights. I'm still debating if I want to finish MCSE or keep focusing on security, which is my ultimate goal.

snadam Member Posts: 2,234 ■■■■□□□□□□2013 was an interesting year for me career and family wise. Based on these circumstances, I felt I met my objectives and am on track for my future plans. This was the 'year of projects' at work so I got a later start than I anticipated. Also, I promised myself that I would not schedule any exams 4th quarter of the year because of my newborn and to mitigate stress during the holidays with trying to finish exams. Unless I have to, this is my new rule moving forward.
2013 Goals (shortened time frame):

BGraves Member Posts: 339@Nova- Well judging from your cert list and location you could be an IA/IAM/Pen Test for the DoD or Contractor...depends on if you're looking to grow those skills or just do a cert.
ITILv3 I found enjoyable and helped me gain some understanding for IT from the perspective of business. It was a nice laid back one and I learned some neat things, doesn't have much to do with your current certs or would benefit you professionally probably, but it's a thought.
If you do anything with networking/Firewalls, maybe a CCNA/CCNA Security?
There's always SANS certifications/training that are relevant to that side of things too...GSEC/GPEN, etc.
Maybe if there's a place you've always wanted to work, you could look for jobs there and see what certs/skills they want their potential employees to have.
Or you could spend some time and spruce up the ole resume, dust of the cobwebs, get it looking shiny and etc...

Essendon Member Posts: 4,546 ■■■■■■■■■■My biggest 2014 target is fatherhood.
On the cert front, I might work on another VCAP, the DTA, (after I finish off this sinister creature - the DCD). I am considering upgrading to the MCSE: SI too. Just to keep myself updated, there is really no need. I intend to work on labbing up Hyper-v too, more and more jobs ask for some Hyper-v experience these days in my area.
I also aim to become proficient in PowerShell/PowerCLI. You dont make a good engineer if you cant script, I believe. And my scripting skills suck. -

Why not round out the skills with something like the CISA? You have management (CISSP) and pen testing (OSCP, CEH), how about adding audit and assessment? Just a thought. -

gorebrush Member Posts: 2,743 ■■■■■■■□□□Well, as I'm in the middle of a CCIE that pretty much ties up the next 7 months
After that? CCIE #2 of course! The hardest part is going to be deciding what one.
Really fancy the Data Center cert as we now support lots of Nexus kit. If I were to very quickly become an expert on that then that would be rather amazing. Failing that I'd like to do Security, or Voice, or even SP.
OK in this order of preference, I'd love to do : -
DC, Sec, Voice.
I wouldn't need to do SP to be honest as much as I am sure I could master it.
