I signed into the initial session on the 19th & 20th I came in about 30 minutes late and it was all ready midnight so I only stayed for about 10 minutes. Whether this constitutes as "attended" in the eyes of microsoft I am not sure but I have yet to receive a voucher. I am hoping to sit down this weekend for the on-demand course.

Will report back if I receive a voucher.

I just received the email as well. I registered for mid January--was hoping to schedule at the latest possible date (6/30/2014) so we shall see!

Edit: I did not attend the live course although I was registered for it. They also provided a link to the recordings in the email with the voucher link.

So I got my voucher and email today. But it sounds like you need to register now, or can you wait until you are ready?? I am looking at about 4 months, roughly. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you for registering for the free 74-409 Server Virtualization with Windows Server and System Center exam voucher. The number of free exams is limited so schedule your exam soon.

    Your personal voucher number is:

    XXXXXXXXXX

This VOUCHER number is valid for the following:

74-409 Server Virtualization with Windows Server and System Center exam

Please make a note of this voucher and print out this page and keep it in a safe place. You will need this voucher to register for your free retake in the event that you fail your initial exam.

    VOUCHER EXPIRATION:

These vouchers expire on June 30, 2014. All exams must be taken by June 30, 2014.

    NEXT STEPS

When you are ready to take your exam, please follow these steps:

    1. Visit http://www.prometric.com/microsoft and click the "Start" button.
    2. Follow the onscreen prompts to schedule your appointment including selection of your country, exam, testing center, and exam date. Note: You will be required to log in during the process.
    3. On Payment Information Screen, click the button to enter your Voucher Number.
    4. Once validated, continue through the process to schedule your exam. You will receive a confirmation screen along with an email upon successful registration.

I signed up. I got a link to an archived video of the session, so I can watch the entire thing on my own time. I have the same email as the post above me, with the exam voucher code. I will probably take the exam after I finish my other windows exams, but before June 2014.

The thing with these is the vouchers are available until X amount (however many they release) are registered. If you wait too long you won't be able to use it, hence why I scheduled mine already. It's a free voucher so not a big deal if you don't pass IMO.

I briefly attended the course and received nothing even after registering for both sessions. I find it odd that I was left out of the email. Thanks for the heads up though as I have successfully claimed the voucher. Will be registering as soon as I decide which test center to use as this will be my first on site certification since moving to a foreign country.

This is good advice. If you examine similar threads for CompTIA and others, beta exams and other special offers usually run out of vouchers pretty quick so it is always best to lock in your test dates.

    Best of luck to all.

Well, I registered for the exam and scheduled it for Jan 27th, but will keep pushing it back until April 1st, if I fail, I will schedule for June 27th. Gives me 120 days for review and then 90 days for second shot. Second shot is offered apparently.

I did watch the videos and started to watch them again on MVA, any suggestions on other material that I can review in preparation for this exam??

    Any labs on MVA??

    I have downloaded two books,
Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Installation and Configuration Guide
    Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Cookbook

    and looking to get

Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V: Deploying Hyper-V Enterprise Server Virtualization Platform

Just not sure I the cost is worth the material.

And I am planning to review the videos on Puralsight on Virtualization
I hope these will provide enough information.

    Any suggestions??

I did not even realize that there was a second shot on this voucher. I had to go back to the email and verify. That is really cool.

What do you think guys: (from the exam voucher mail form MS)

Please make a note of this voucher and print out this page and keep it in a safe place. You will need this voucher to register for your free retake in the event that you fail your initial exam.

This means, that you have two free shots? = If you fail at the first attempt, the 2nd retake attempt with the same code is also free?

How do i register for the free exam? I have the course in my learning plan.
  • EspiOneEspiOne Member Posts: 62 ■■□□□□□□□□
Well, with all other exams I had, I only read two books on this and watch some videos, of course with limited 'actual' study material, I found if difficult to get very much study time. Took it and failed, figured I did have the second shot. NOPE, second not available. Apparently the vouchers ran out, although, I got a voucher, my voucher was good for only one exam, not a second shot at stated in the email.

    Waste of my time.

Had you passed I doubt you would be saying that. I was singing the same tune last Sunday when I failed 70-247, Deploying and Configuring a Private Cloud.
