Linux+ before CCENT/CCNA?

in CCNA & CCENT
Hey!
I'm in the IT Security program at WGU. My next goals are Security+, CCENT, CCNA and Linux+. I have to do Security+ first due to my work. After that, my question is; will it be helpful to take the Linux+ before CCENT/CCNA? Or will it not make a difference?
Also, I passed the Network+ today, how does the N+ compare to the CCENT?
Thanks!

They won't have basically any overlap. Linux+ Is a system certification so you have to know the structure of Linux, command line, security within Linus system administration.
Network+ is a good foundation for CCENT but CCENT is more challenging and now you must learn syntax. The good news is that people who pass Network+ have a higher CCENT/CCNA pass rate. -
Disgruntled3lf Member Posts: 77 ■■■□□□□□□□If you passed the N+ today I would advise continuing with the CCENT and CCNA. Just so your N+ material is fresh and you can keep that momentum going. The S+ has some networking stuff so maybe that next. But the L+ will be a completely different animal. For me focusing on one area at a time would be best (OS's, Networking, Security, Web, etc)

DoubleNNs Member Posts: 2,015 ■■■■■□□□□□One thing you could do is start using Linux as your primary OS - just to get used to it. Maybe try out diff distros so you can figure out which one you like, even superficially, and see a few differences between them.
You could play around w/ the Linux distros while doing your CCENT/CCNA, and then get more serious afterwards w/ the Linux+.
Just a suggestion.Goals for 2018:

CoolAsAFan Member Posts: 239I just took Linux+ and can tell you there is a networking domain that might overlap a little, but it's nothing new to you since you have Network+. IMO, it won't help you prepare for CCENT at all, but the N+ should help a ton.
That being said, I have found that Linux+ has actually helped a lot for Security+ as I have noticed more overlap than I had expected. I'm not sure if your employer would let you push S+ back to take L+ first, but it definitely would help. I just finished the material today and will be taking the exam soon.IvyTech - AS CINS (Completed: May, 2013)

Linux Redhat certification is really helpful with security related network positions, and is just a great topic to be able to say anything relevant about. -

I took classes for Linux+ and Security+ the same semester and had trouble remembering which assignment was for which class sometimes, because of the amount of overlap. The college I was attending used Linux almost exclusively for the labs in their Security+ class.R&S: CCENT → CCNA → CCNP → CCIE [ ]

ajs1976 Member Posts: 1,945 ■■■■□□□□□□It has been years since I have taken the Net+ and Linux+ so things may have changed. The basic networking covered in the Net+ will help a lot with Linux+ but the added material in the CCENT and CCNA will not.Andy
