Network + for Christmas

Hey Everyone,

I was initially preparing to take the 100-101 ICND1 Cisco entry level Cert and decided to go back and follow my original plan of acquiring Network+ after my A+ (which I acquired in March 2012). I figured the Network+ exam would provide a good foundation in getting some formal networking education before getting into the Cisco specific certs. My goal is to eventually get my CCNA Voice cert at the minimum as I feel VOIP is going to be a very good and lucrative career path.

Currently I work in a help desk with some exposure to networking so I do have some basic knowledge. I am using the CompTIA Network+ N10-005 book by Kevin Wallace and purchased via groupon the CompTIA bundle for Quickcerts from Groupon. I previously read up to chapter 8 in the book and have begun rereading it - I am up to chapter 4 and have been watching the QuickCert vids - I have a feeling the vids just gloss over the topics. Has anyone else used the QuickCerts?

I recently used Professor Messer's vids for A+ and they helped alot. I am thinking of using them as an additional tool.

I am kind of hoping to take this test before Christmas. So far I have identified Subnetting and Binary Math as two concepts I need to go back and revisit.

Is anyone else in the process of studying for this exam? How does it compare to the A+?

I think it would be easier than A+ way easier.... I studied CCNA for a long time never tried to take the test though. I guess NET+ would be really easy now that I understand many things... What is next after NET+ for you guys?

Well I got distracted a little after I posted this thread. Didn't really get back into studying until after the holidays. Planning to take it next week. Have watched most of Prof Messer's vids. Almost done reading my book totally as well.

I am taking my Net+ very soon. i have covered all the material its not difficult except maybe for subnetting which you need to know for CCNA also. The most important thing is to understand the material and the concepts really well and professor Messer's videos will help you in that regard. Good luck to everyone!
