does it need a 'version2' in there somewhere?

plus

configuring a switch to join the same vtp domain as another switch and become a vtp client? howto via cli?

These where easy last week, on the day of the test my mind is blank.

You don't need version 2. But if you want it to run in version 2 then you would type it right after you type router rip. Like this:

enable
conf t
router rip
[b]version 2[/b]
network x.x.x.x

(config)# vtp domain domain_name (domain_name used in VTP server)
(config)# vtp mode client
