1 month after graduation and WGU has paid for itself

Lot of stuff to report...

If anyone remembers, I posted this long ago:

http://www.techexams.net/forums/jobs-degrees/88675-2-month-process-no-job.html

where I said stuff like this:

Actually it was full of compliments and he told me numerous times he wanted to hire me, just said that guy had direct experience and could hit the ground running, whereas I'd have to train. And he said he expects to have another position open before the end of the year and I'd be the top choice...

Well, much to my surprise, he kept his word and called me back. Long story short, in between then and now I had completed my Bachelor's at WGU. This time around I got the job and the salary went up 10k.

It took me 3 terms at WGU to complete my B.S....

rough math 3k x 3 = 9k

rougher math.. 10k > 9k

So yeah.. I'm a big fan of WGU.

For those of you that follow all my posts.. I also had this one:

    http://www.techexams.net/forums/jobs-degrees/91641-2-weeks-notice.html

which is the job I have now, and I love it, best job I ever had... like literally, I love it, I enjoy coming to work every single day... So I was quite conflicted.

My current job Software Testing is great, but I'm a contractor, and that's always an uneasy feeling.. no PTO

The cell company is obviously a huge company, it's a permanent gig, it's about 20k more, amazing benefits, I have 9 years of telecommunications experience already.. and on and on...

I guess it was a good thing, having to choose between two great jobs, but it sucked to decide

Congrats on the new position! icon_cheers.gif

I'm about to see if my MS pays off for me, although mine is more of a casual search. I enjoy where I am, and I do get paid decently, just the job role isn't quite what i'm looking for. Although I am still learning new things, so it's not a huge rush to move.

I am currently in the MSISA at WGU, hopefully I'll have it completed before my 1 year review at my new job. They also have a very large security department

    Huge congrats!

I definitely admire the people who can do WGU. I tried, and failed miserably - guess a degree just isn't in the cards for me. :)
