I just got the same email. I don't know about you but I don't deserver this pass. I scored 560 when I failed. That is a lot of mistakes for them to find and adjust my score. I bet they are not getting a lot of people passing this exam so they decided to just pass a number of those that failed and had not retaken it yet. I was going to use the free retake but not until like May. O well, I will just accept and move on.

That's weird, anyway, I failed with 665. I was going to retake the test next week...

Guess I'll move on to the VCP5 :P

What did you guys use to study for this exam besides the MVA course? I find it hard to believe that that's all you need to pass the exam. Not to knock on the MVA course it was very informative

I only watched that video, but I also use most of the System Center 2012 suite on a daily basis. The only part that I don't use is the Hyper-V. We are a VMWare shop at my office. I use Hyper-V on my laptop to simulate things but only for testing, but as you saw in my previous post I failed the exam like I should have. They just decided my guess is to throw out some questions that I got wrong, brining up my score.

It takes a few days for Prometric to send the results Microsoft and then a few days later you will get the welcome email with those details.

I scheduled this for next Friday but I just got an email saying Prometric shut down the test center I was supposed to go to. Now the closest testing center is over an hour away. So I may just bag it.

For those who have taken this exam, did you see any questions on Windows Azure?

The only thing mentioned on the skills measured section of this test is the following: "Hyper-V replica including using Windows Azure Hyper-V Recovery Manager"

Not supposed to discuss questions on the test, but I wouldnt put too much time other than knowing what Azure is.

That being said, I forgot I scheduled mine and had to take it with a 2 hour notice I set up on gmail and scored in the low 600s... waiting on my magic email to tell me I passed :)

Building a full blown clustered ESXi VMWare lab now... after that, I will blow it up and build a Hyper-V then take the test... so maybe I will actually kind of deserve the cert!

Passed this this afternoon with an 862. I watched the MVA courses and that was it for study. I have also already setup a 2012R2 Hyper-V cluster with VMM 2012R2 at work and its in production so that helped a bunch. No questions on Azure, but has some on Specific AD only tech and some stuff about SC 2012 not related to Virtualization at all. Kinda weird but glad its over. On to the MCSA now.

He didn't, he stated what was not on the test. And I am not just being cheeky, this is not a violation of the NDA.

Do you know if going through cbt nuggets Microsoft 70-403 SCVMM & 70-652 Hyper-V MCTS videos would help in passing the exam?

So, edited my previous post, everyone can be happy now. icon_rolleyes.gif

And I wouldn't wait for a new e-mail of those, only if they find more wrong questions or errors of some kind.

I passed this exam today with a 700

I only used the videos but I think some of the reason I passed was a good amount of luck/judgement and common sense on my part. There is definitely content being tested outside of the scope of the video course on the exam.

If you have a good technical knowledge and pay close attentions to the videos and proactive experience of building VM's it shouldn't be hard to pass this exam. Power Shell especially - you can easily eliminate incorrect answers if you know the pattern that Power Shell follows.

I passed this test today with a 768.

I agree with Mr Ploddy -- I don't have much server experience at all, nor VM experience, but I have 10 years of IT experience. I only decided to sit this exam because well, it was free and I never took a normal MS test.

I used the videos on MVA, and did some hands on lab stuff at my job (I work 3rd shift for an IT solutions provider, so my access to the data center is pretty awesome for this)

I printed out the power point slides and that made like, a simple book of the key points. I also used the thread listed in the Server 2012 section of this forum, and that REALLY put me over the top. There was stuff definitely not in the videos, and I just guessed. Don't know which stuff I got right or wrong obviously..

I barely passed, but I feel good about it. This was my first 'normal' MS test (non-MTAs) and it was pretty straight forward.

I put in about 30 hours of studying I would guess.

Is there an expiry date for this certification? Not the test, but certification itself.

I do not believe there is an 'expiration date' but it will likely be listed as a legacy certification after Server 2012 and System Center 2012 are no longer supported

    ***NOT *******

But does anyone have anywhere that might have a set of pratice questions to revise against? Will use the ones on the MVA but thats not many.

    Any other resources?

    Cheers.

I didn't see many good resources.. Everytime I searched for anything question related it just pulled up the normal **** sites for that exam..

What helped me the most was this thread:

    http://www.techexams.net/forums/mcsa-mcse-windows-2012-general/98533-74-409-helpful-info.html

I have virtually no vritualization experience and I was able to pull off this test just by studying these threads and doing a little labbing at work..

    Cheers.

Going through the MVA vids and writing notes as I do. Also building labs where I've got the equipment to do so.

I will have a read through that you suggested.

    Hopefully should be enough.

Passed on Saturday with an 800. Pretty straight forward. Just know the limitations of vhds and when a vhdx is necessary. MVA should be sufficient, though my VMware experience likely helped.

    Peterm44Peterm44 Member Posts: 36 ■■□□□□□□□□
Usually 50-55 questions and I think its on a scale of 100-1000 and you need 700 to pass

how much is 1 correct answer worth? is it 20 points?

if it is over 1000, 700 is passing ,then its basically 70% to pass?
