Clarification on book types
Kurgan
Quick question.
Are foundation learning guides the same as the Official learning guides?
Can someone please clarify the difference for me?
I tried to search for the answer and some of the posts were a little too vague.
1) Are both intended for certification study?
2) What does one have over the other?
Thanks in advance!

They're separate books. How well they work together varies from exam to exam (and author to author).
Here's the amazon links for both, for ROUTE:
Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE) Foundation Learning Guide: Foundation learning for the ROUTE 642-902 Exam (Foundation Learning Guides): Diane Teare: 9781587058820: Amazon.com: Books
CCNP ROUTE 642-902 Official Certification Guide (Official Cert Guide): Wendell Odom: 9781587202537: Amazon.com: Books
For ROUTE specifically, I feel the Foundation Learning Guide (FLG) starts off at a slightly lower level, but at the same time doesn't go quite as thorough as the Official Certification Guide (OCG). Together they're an excellent combo.
On the other hand, for SWITCH I've heard neither book is particularly good.

Ugh I heard the same, hoping OCG with INE Vids will remedy that.
