Hi there fellow students and professionals. I am studying for the 70-680 and currently only on the Migration part of the course. Here's the thing. I am trying to install Windows Vista x64 which I got from a torrent website because I cannot, for the life of me, find an official download link from Microsoft's technet site. The problem is VMware is not accepting this ISO and it ends up with an internal error message, unlike the ISOs i used to install windows 7 x64 Eval version and Server 2008 r2 Eval version. (from technet)
Does anyone know where I can get the Windows Vista Image? or If not, where I can get the setup files to create my own iso?
I really need this OS in order to practice migration and other exercises that will turn up.
Thank you for your help
P.S. Maybe my googlefu sucks

I wouldn't worry about it anyway because there are so few Vista machines out there and having took 70-680 I don't remember anything being asked about Vista upgrades. What exercises required you to use Vista?

According to this link there is only about 3-5% of machines running Vista at this stage. -

In your opinion, should I lab migrating user profiles and data? If so, from what OS to Windows 7? The usage share suggest i practice migrating files in a Wipe and Load way from XP to Windows 7, would you agree? I am using the MCTS self paced training kit 70-680 (the one that people say has lots of errors etc) but so far it seems pretty informative.

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Yeah you can do the same thing with a Windows 7 installation to another Windows 7 installation as practice. Most XP machines just get replaced with a new Windows 7 or maybe a Windows 8 machine - so you need to migrate the profiles using the User State Migration Tool. I used the MS Press book for 70-680, just check the errata for the book and here.
