Christmas/New Year schedule?

Just curious as to how everyone's office or place of employment will be handling the week of X-Mas and New Years?

Working in the DoD, we'd usually get both holidays integrated into a 4 day weekend, but both fall on Wednesdy this year (and haven't since 2002 IIRC) so I'm not sure what'll be worked out.

I'm in the processing of starting a new job and haven't arrived on site yet so I'm not certain as to what my employer will be doing. Interested to hear how everyone else will work this out.

My current employer is allowing the entire company to be shut down on next Wednesday (christmas) and that day ONLY. I fortunately am blessed to have the entire first half of that week off. Christmas eve and the day after Christmas are regular operational days.

New Years days are different. Over the past 3 years, my current company "promised" its employees New Years off, however its never been the case. Had to work new years last year and I wouldn't be surprised if the facility does it again for the 4th time in a row.

Don't know yet, will find out on Friday I think. We're technically closed all week next week, but we'll be manning the helpdesk...sort of. Check the voicemail and tickets every couple hours.

Hospitals never close AND we don't get holiday pay. Any holiday I work will be straight pay and any time I take will require the use of CTO hours...

Its my first year of working after graduating college. It just hit me I get no more week long X-mas breaks. Still, I'll gladly take this over no assignments, homeworks, due projects. I love working life :D

Xmas day and New years day only at the place I just left. But it was also a travel biz, so being available during heavy loads is kind of important...

I work shift work in a NOC, so my schedule will have me working both days. I know I get an extra eight hours of holiday pay for Christmas but I am not sure about New Years.

I'm a contractor, so I have the 25th off and the 1st off. Without pay, of course.

But I sat through an interview yesterday with a pretty interesting company, so I should hear back soon about possibly moving on to something better.

Most 9-5er's will be off though.

Rest of company gets 24th 25th off, and dec 31 and jan 1 off paid. My team has to work but will be getting 2.5times pay for the day and probably will be sitting around doing nothing.

At my company we have the 24th, 25th, 31st, and 1st off. I still have some vacation to burn so my last day will be this Thursday, and I return on January 2nd. Plan on doing some studying during that time, but you know as well as I, that will be hard to do around the house.

My company is off all of next week and the following week until Jan 2nd. I'll have a little bit of maintenance work to do during this time, but not much, a few hours at most.

Seeing as we're 24/7/365 we're not able to do all that much. This year I told management I'd handle xmas eve and day(all shifts) so at least everyone else can make plans of their own.

We haven't quite figured out new years yet.

I work in a hospital too, and Dec 24th, 25th, and Jan 1st are 1.5 time holiday pay. Only mandatory personnel work them. IT will be on call. You need a better hospital!
