juliusg's CCIE journey.... long road ahead

Hello to everyone! I'm juliusg and want to track my progress on achieving my CCIE numbers. I'm currently CCNA certified(Nov'13) and will begin studying aggressively on CCNP Switch in the new year( I have been reading every now and then). I have plans to sit the exam in June'14 depending how ready I feel. I have read some of the other CCIE threads and found them very informative and figure it will help to keep me motivated to continue the journey when I feel like I'm burnout. I'm open to all opinions and any routes taken to achieve any other the certs. I currently have Oden's Switch guide and will be looking at the CBT Nugget videos. I'll try to post once a day to update what I have done. Thanks to all who visits and give me some help in advance!

You haven't started your CCNP studies and you are making a CCIE Thread?

yeah... was going to just make one thread... Since I will need my CCNP before I get my CCIE, its still the same journey...

Studying for CCNP has been going well. I have a plan to take the first of the three exam in June(Switch). I'm using the all of the OCG for the three exams. I also have the CBT Nuggets for them as well. I goal is to read the books in completion, watch the videos and then test the knowledge of what I have learn thus far. I'll then measure my weak areas, reread the entire book, this time taking notes and soon after take another test. I'll continue this cycle until I feel confident I'm ready. I'll also use GNS3 & use the local college for labbing. Currently, I've read up to Chp 13. Most of the material is the same as in the ICND2 v2 with further details but on a switch. There was some new material but not much. Next will be Chp 14 and I might get to Chp 15 tonight. My goal is to finish the first read-thorough by this weekend so I can start the videos.

Finished Chapters 15(Wireless) & 16(Securing Switch Access) this morning. I took a class at the local college on CWNA, which is helps me understand Chap 15 with some ease. I just have to grasp the relationship of whats known to cisco's variation. Chap 16 was mostly a review of some of the topics from ICND2. They just went a bit further in detail with some of the commands. I have two more chapter before I complete my first wave of the book. I'll finish this most likely this afternoon. Tomorrow I'll start the CBT nugget videos. Then I'll test my position afterwards to see how far away I am.
