Is it standard practice to make a counter offer?

I just received an offer letter and of course the salary is at the lowest range I asked for. I was wondering if it's common practice to make a counter offer?

mikey_b Member Posts: 1885% is the easy number. Most employers will strongy consider a 5% counter offer but some may reject anything higher. But never accept the first offer! They almost expect you not to, anyways.Mikey B.
