I've been reviewing where I want to be in 5-years and what it will take to achieve that. I now work in Information Security, but I'm not sure what I eventually want to specialize in. I'm just not sure. I think this going to be my plan for 2014:

    • Pass the GCIH exam
    • Learn Python
    • Study MS Servers and Group Policy. I bought Minasi's Mastering 08 and I need to read it.
    • Become the best I can at my job.

I think all of the above should keep me fairly busy this coming year.

Great responses! I'll be working on the Linux+ exams, VCA cloud and Network+. If I have time after that I will probably take the ITIL foundation cert. Originally I was thinking about the MCSE, but I may put that on the back-burner this year.

I'm going for my MCSA: Win7 MCITP / Enterprise Admin (Hopefully pass it before Jan 2014). After that, I will go for my MCSA: Win Srv 2012.

I feel within 6 months I should be good, it seems like a reasonable expectation to achieve my goals. I also plan on enrolling in WGU in June (After all my certs are done)

Again - it's my plan and future foresight. I usually think 6 - 12 months out and try to reach those goals, so I feel MCSE Srv 2012 may be an option as well.
    Kindly doing the needful

At this stage im going for MCSA:2012 upgrade whilst I wait for my call up to Stanley CC to do the VMWare course. I think theres about a 6 month waiting time at the moment so it should give me plenty of time to immerse myself in all things Windows Server 2012. After that ill decide where ill go from there, life has a habbit of getting in the way.

Start at WGU in February for my BS-IT Security degree and pick up some certs like Linux+ and CCNA: Security. I will likely not get any certs outside of what is part of my degree plan next year. The only one I may get on the side is VCP-Cloud possibly!! :)

I definitely was in beast mode this year so I will continue that into 2014!!

I want to develop my skills in the area of pen testing. I have decided that this year my offensive abilities will get better no matter what. If I manage to start the OSCP, I will be even happier.

Finish CISSP NLT 18 May, finish CCNA: Security, finish the last 4 credits for my BA in communications, and see about getting a raise.

On the personal level, nothing really. I don't know, probably try and get my credit score up 10 points to 750. icon_scratch.gif

I would like to earn my CCNA by April/May 2014. After get my CCNA S by July/August 2014. Once I get those I would like to find an apartment in Austin, TX along with a job and live there for a year to a year and a half. After moving and settling down I would like to start WGU.

I'd like to experience another part of the US which is a reason for my move.

Get my financials under control and stop renting and buy a house. I recently inherited some money which will pay off my MBA and my credit card. I also plan on buying into a local business and to eventually transition out of IT into being a SBO. This of course will be several years down the road, but being a business owner is what I crave and strive for. It's the primary reason I went and received my MBA. Those skills are wasted working in a defined role in IT.
