This could come in handy when I upgrade to VCP6. You wouldn't know the cost of the EMC course would you? Otherwise I'll contact them when they come back on the 2nd... -

afro18 Member Posts: 6 ■□□□□□□□□□I took that class; which helped me get my VCP5_DCV and VCP5_CLOUD. I'm very interested in returing later for the EMC course. I am out of state (did remote from Ohio) and each course was $800 total. They DO payments with 50% down before the first day of the semester, and the last 50% due 4 weeks later (which helped me pay for the course as I paid out-of-pocket).

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□I emailed Greg the course co-ordinator for the VMware and EMC/NetApp courses and he said the combined EMC/NetApp course was $295 without the book. I am not in the US so I will find out tomorrow what the cost is for outside the US and will update this thread.hello. The EMC and NetApp Course is combine to give each student a good foundation on EMC and NetApp Storage Arrays. The Intro EMC/NetApp Course will cost about $295.00 not including the book. This is a completely online course and you will have labs. So, the first 8 weeks we will focus on Storage Technology and discus EMC low end to mid range storage arrays. The next 8 weeks will be all NetApp Storage Training and labs. After completing the course you will be given vouchers to take both the EMCISM and NetApp Storage certifications. We have a few seats available and I would love to students from outside the US. Thank you Greg.

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□OK so it's not immediately apparent how to register for this VMware or EMC/NetApp course if you are an international student - if you are interested in this course then follow these instructions.
1. Do not register on eConnect or ring an international student advisor! This is what I did!
2. Visit this continuing education page and phone the number listed there (972-273-3360).
3. Tell them you wish to do the online VMware VCP or the online EMC/NetApp course.
4. Give them your details and they will transfer you to the cashiers office with your new Student ID (take note of it).
5. Give the cashier your Student ID and your credit card number.
6. Go to NorthLakeCollege.edu and visit "Online Resources" in the top-right of the page - click on "eCampus" & then "Access Courses".
7. You can now log in using your Student ID with the letter "e" before it - e####### and the password is the same as your student id until you change it on the next screen.
8. That's it, you should be able to see your enrolled course now.
Just to let you know there are only 14 spots on the EMC/NetApp course and the online Spring class is now full... it cost me $208!! bargain... to check for course availability:
1. Check the schedule page and click the link to the Spring or Fall schedules. From there follow the links to VMware & EMC ISM. Take a note of the course ID.
2. Click "Find CE/WT Classes" on this page.
3. Select the term, North Lake College and the course of "ITNW - Information Sciences/Systems" and click submit.
4. You should be able to view the class availability now.
Enjoy! -

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Your'e in luck cause someone dropped out of the course and there is a place available, check post #10 on how to sign up on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday in the US). I think it'll be pretty easy, it's over 16 weeks which is a bit long for a short book but I'll be doing other exams too so it probably won't be too bad. It starts on the 27th of this month. The next course is in the Fall (September-ish). And AFAIK you get discounted vouchers for the exam at the end of the course.

chanakyajupudi Member Posts: 712I will on Tuesday. I shot out a mail to Greg as well just now.

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□AFAIK - the introductory EMC/NetApp class is geared towards EMCISA (E10-001) & NetApp NCSA (NS0-145)
The Cloud Services class is geared towards EMCCIS (E20-002) - don't know which NetApp exam it matches up to.
I'll be doing both, but not at the same time. I need to get confirmation from Greg this is the case though. -

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□I have my Student ID already and can login but they won't give you a student ID until after you give them your details (address, DoB, confirm there is a place available etc.) - signing up on eConnect doesn't work for some reason, it's better to phone them with your credit card.

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Yeah he said we would get vouchers in the first email I got from him. I had a look online for EMC Academys and found a description of the course benefits which includes worldwide exam vouchers. There is also a portal where you can buy your exam vouchers when the course is complete but it doesn't work for DCCCD yet.
He said that we are using the same book for EMC & NetApp - the EMCISA book. But the lectures will be 8 weeks EMC and then 8 weeks NetApp. The labs use OpenFiler. The advanced class isn't online (yet!) I want to email Greg again and ask him all these questions. He said there is one in the summer so I'm hoping he opens this up online. -
tprice5 Member Posts: 770Hope the class is going well, you guys. I called and attempted to enroll last week and was told they were full up. No worries though as it is probably best for my current work load. Will be taking this in the summer after yall wrap up.
Will be following the thread to see how everything goes and how yall are liking it. So keep it updated!Certification To-Do: CEH [ ], CHFI [ ], NCSA [ ], E10-001 [ ], 70-413 [ ], 70-414 [ ]

The best part is the advanced EMC/NetApp course in the summer will be in class AND online! Excellent.. I love it when a plan comes together!
So if my sums are correct - the course costs $208, the EMC exam costs $200, minus the 50% off voucher = total of $308 including all exams. Can't beat that price..
