GNS3 and Dynamips CPU utilization

Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this thread, but I have been attempting to use GNS3 for my route studies and unfortunately dynamips is maxing out my cpu utilization. Whenever I put more than a couple routers on the map, it starts freezing up on me when I try connecting cables or use the CLI. Is there a way I can minimize this or possibly use another program that provides less cpu load while still providing support for newer ios versions (Aside from packet tracer). My processor is an I3 and it's like 1.66 GHz.

Have you set your Idle PC settings? It sounds like you've skipped that step.

Looks like you were right. I don't have that issue anymore. Thanks for the help! Wasn't exactly sure what to do with that option. I'm somewhat new to GNS3 as I have usually used packet tracer.

Their site was actually down earlier today, but you can get to their site now, and they have a forum there, that would be most helpful to you.

    Graphical Network Simulator - GNS3.

You can also get documentation from that site.

    Hope this helps.
