Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I'm currently just starting out in the IT field as a Help Desk agent. In 5 years I'm hoping to be either in school finishing up a degree or working with an IT Security firm as a Jr. Network Security Analyst.

What about you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years in your job or education?

Senior position in either red team or blue security. Hoping it'll only take another 2-3 years to get there.

I want to be finished with my masters (a year left), and in a management position. I feel that I am on the right track for that at the moment.

About to begin studying for the CCENT and take it within the next month so in about 5 years I would like to be in a Network Admin role. Focused on completing CCENT and CCNA this year.

Idk about 5 years. But in 2-3 years I want to be in a Network Engineer role, in the middle of finishing up my CCNP.

However, considering how far I have to go, and the funny way life tends to get in the way, I might end up making that my 5 year goal instead..
    Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
    To-do | In Progress | Completed

As a Network Admin, possibly moonlighting as an MCT.

I would like to see myself in a stable security position, one step closer to becoming an ISSO, and continuing my education by slowly achieving a Masters in Cybersecurity (or getting more certs)

A badass pen tester/security analyst(something along these lines) with plans for my own business. Certification wise, unless my plans change - OSCE.

In 5 years... not sure I can think that far out :)

Hopefully I'll be doing penetration testing, and nearly smart and knowledgeable enough to be researching and developing zero day exploits.

5 years .. man .. no idea .. if you would have asked me where I WANT to be, then I could just say what I told a director in an interview once: Sitting on the beach all day and enjoy the sun, sea and relax .. (True story).

I would probably go with either a senior level network engineer or architect position. At least one CCIE in the bag but here's hoping for two

    Iris:

Please update your headline. It says next up-CCNP, and you've already done that.

On the original topic, I'd say that I'd like to be in my second career of franchise ownership. A man can dream, can't he?

If things continue and I stay put I'll probably move up fairly high within the government agency I currently work at. Along with if I stay put goes perhaps at Masters from a school labeled as #1 in the country for it's program.

    OR

OSCP at least and working as an Exploit Researcher (or something along those lines) maybe at my own place :) Have some ideas for security consulting that I believe is needed haha

If everything goes as planned I expect I'll still be sitting at my computer playing with my home labs.
Now which cert I'll be working on I have no idea.

5 years is a ways away, but hopefully I'll:

    Be done with a Masters
Teaching in addition to the day-job
A real sysadmin, with the title AND the pay!!!
Possibly out of the education and non-profit IT sector

Hopefully still at the same company changing titles with responsibility. I would like to get into Sales eventually I really think I would fare well in that area.
