Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I'm currently just starting out in the IT field as a Help Desk agent. In 5 years I'm hoping to be either in school finishing up a degree or working with an IT Security firm as a Jr. Network Security Analyst.

What about you? Where do you see yourself in 5 years in your job or education?

I'd like to have my CCIE R&S, CISSP, and maybe another CCNP topic down. Hopefully live near a beach where I can just relax on the weekends and sip on some corona. Watch my kids grow up, and find a stable place for my family to live.

In 5 years I would like to have at least 5 more years of experience in IT/network security then I have now. I have an interest in Infosec. I would like to have increased my Infosec skills. I see myself as having completed the CCNA, CCNA security, and CISSP track.

When do I get to start?

A Masters degree in System and Network Engineering, CCIE R&S, JNCIE and of course quest for more knowledge and self advancement. Hopefully i can be useful to society by helping others no matter where in the world.

Senior or lead engineer with my bachelor's done and kid #2 here.

CCIE done and just enjoying life at that time somewhere that has good work life balance (aka I get to see my family at night and not work insane hours)

Hopefully have at least 1 CCIE.. however 2 would be nice. (Or studying for the second)

I'll either still be a Sr. engineer or network architect. I'm too worried about the job title though I've actually turned down at least 2 architect positions at this point.

Retired. I have worked over 40 years. I have worked on everything from electronics on board SSBNs, to early versions of voice recognition. Currently spend my time as a Linux system Admin, but the bulk of it is compiling and configuring software for scientists. I hate to leave money on the table, but I am tired of working.

I have already done the drinking on tropical Islands, it's way over rated. I would like to be finished up with CCNP, MCSE, working as a Domain Admin or Security position.

I have only been in IT for 4 short years. I converted over from Engineering when the market dried up in 2009. I think I have done fairly well picking up certs, experience and my Second Degree.

Either an expert in Sys Admin or Network Admin or having a position with both roles and definitely comfortable in my career i am sort of losing my patience in adapting to this industry via the Help-Desk. and earning a ton of money.

That's difficult. I'm trying to keep my options open so that I am able to be flexible and move up quicker. I'm hoping within a year I'm at level 2 tech support, but after 5 years, I'd hope to be a security analyst or network admin. It would be nice if I could be making 80k-100k+.

I will be working at Raytheon for two years to get the experience I need in information technology. Then after working there for 2 years, I have simultaneously got my bachelor's degree, and have started working in the cyber security industry -- double interning. I've heard that Raytheon, Booz Allen, and Microsoft are some of the top places out to develop cyber security experience.

I hope to be in a Senior Network Engineering or Architecture role with my CCIE completed, maybe 2 of them. I really like the service provider environment and the size of the networks, but I see the pay in Enterprise and Data Center stuff is a lot better so I could be moving that direction at some point as well. I would really like to get more experience with VOIP, Linux, and Scripting. I'm slowly working on all 3, but VOIP seems to be the toughest to get experience mainly because I rarely touch it at work.

In 5 years I should have my CCNA, and CCNP in the bag. Be working in a Network Engineer position, and probably thinking about giving the first CCIE a shot.
