Net+ Memorization

Hy guys so I am about to wrap up my Net+ Book from Sybex and take the test but am very worried about how packed full the book was of acronyms and small details here and there. Do I really need to memorize all these acronyms and when and why they are used, or just understand the technologies? >> P.S. I enjoyed the CCENT book Much more. It felt more focused and relative. This book has just a plethora of things in it. Thanks guys.

They describe net+ as a mile wide and a inch deep.
Yes knowing acronyms is important.
If I remember right I wasn't asked questions on cables specs, but quite a bit on wireless and fiber optics.
They rotate questions so no two persons tests are the same.

It helps when you can translate the popular ones like DHCP in to Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol or RDP in to Remote Desktop Protocol but I would say as long as you know the reason why an acronym is used with a particular technology then you will be fine - you definitely don't need to know all the long versions.

As you have seen Network+ asks about particular acronyms and properties, cable lenghts (CAT5e 100m) etc. whereas CCENT was more technologies and configuration. Hope this helps.

You'll find many of the questions use the acronyms without spelling them out. If you know what the acronym stands for, these questions are much easier to answer. You'll rarely be tested on the exact words of the acronym. For example, you won't be asked what DHCP stands for, but you can expect to be asked about the purpose of DHCP. Good luck.
