New to Citrix... Need suggestions

I know this is not he place but Citrix forum is not really Active so postin here...

I am new to Citrix and wanted to know if Citrix Cert (CCA XenApp) would help me or not... I currently live in Toronto and have no experience in Citrix whatsoever.. I am working in a IT company as a Technical support analyst and my company mainly deal in DNS and DHCP (ISC Bind and DHCP based)...

I do not like working for this company as they only use their own products and it will not help me in long run when I leave this company and look for other jobs in the market because of the fact that they use their own products and not market standard...

Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated..

Thank you in advance.

In my opinion I think with your current certs listed you would be better served going with VMware VCP5 as it goes nicely with your VCA. Citrix is similar of course but VMware has more market share in my opinion.

You should also look into the free Microsoft virtualization cert currently being offered you can't beat free!

Efficient IP, by chance? I happen to have a guy from Toronto onsite this week to implement their appliance for DHCP/DNS management.

As to your question, I don't think a Citrix cert by itself will land you in a Citrix specific admin position. Those are usually looking for 3/5/7 years of experience depending on the size of the Citrix environment. However, lots of shops use Citrix products, so showing some knowledge would definitely be helpful if you want to be a general System Admin in any of those environments.

Citrix is a niche market. Unless you have experience with it, I would look into something else.

Jabney: I have my 74-409 (Hyper-V) scheduled for Jan 26 and I am currently studying for it...

Thank you all you guys for suggestions... I really appreciate...

So you all think that VCP would be more helpful than Citrix because I will not be able to gain experience in Citrix Admin?
