Noticed this on one of the blogs I follow:
For FREE, full version EMC ViPR available for download. | VMwaremine - Mine of knowledge about virtualization!
Now you can lab up with enterprise grade storage abstraction! Looks like VMware's VSAN at first glance, I'll throw it on my lab once I have had enough of labbing up SRM 5.5. Will post my experience then.

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Interesting, thanks for posting this. I didn't know what software defined storage was (the next big thing apparently!), so I found a few useful YouTube videos about ViPR...
Introducing EMC ViPR Software Defined Storage
EMC ViPR: Software-Defined Storage Overview White Board Series
EMC ViPR Demo: Storage Automation and Provisioning
EMC ViPR Demo: VMware Integration
This one has a great explaination of what software defined storage is.
Virsto - Software Defined Storage
This one is a great high level overview of the industry.

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Just a heads up to let people know there is an hour and a half course that's currently free to do about ViPR Fundamentals on the EMC website at the moment. I've tried to check out but had to setup a user name and the server isn't responding but maybe on another day it'll be available to purchase for free. No idea what it's like but I will be looking to go through it once I can complete the purchase.
