Hello every one.

I have been studding for my 70-686 test and have not schedule a date for it but I was wondering should I even take it anymore because its past January 31, 2014. I have past my 70-680 about a year back. So any advise is very much appreciated.

Hello, Mark, and welcome to the forum :)

I would say go for it, provided that Windows 7 is still relevant at your current position. I believe it would be another year or two before Windows 8 takes over in the workplace. When I used to teach in Arkansas back in 2008-2009, Office 2003 was still very popular.

    Best of luck to you!

    Absolutely!

You can earn the MCSA, which is still pretty good. I would say I see Win 7 being around (like WinXP) in the professional environment for the next few years, (3 - 5). Windows 8 is just really crappy and not business oriented in my opinion.

    Good luck!

If you do, I would recommend the 70-686 training kit by Microsoft Press.
    Kindly doing the needful

I would like to say thank you LittleBit and bull313. This has helped me and I going for the 70-686. Also does anyone know if there are any lab books for the 70-686 like they have for the 70-685 exam out there. Thank you all again

Windows 8 will unlikely take over any workplace anyone ever works at.

    Unless you work at Microsoft.

Sometimes I think people get too hung up on the versions of these certifications. While I don't think Windows 8 is seeing a lot of corporate adoption, much of the material on the exams is similar and they test a lot of the same skills (in my opinion).

When I hire, I recognize the effort that a candidate put into obtaining a difficult certification like the MCSA. Generally speaking, I think that's more important than the version (Win7/Win8 ). Maybe it would be different if you were just starting out, but you're already halfway there. I would definitely complete the Windows 7 MCSA.
