GSEC 2011 materials sufficient ?

anyone know if the GSEC 2011 materials would be sufficient for self study ?

In my opinion no. I took the class in September of 2013. Did the exam in Jan 2014 and I think there were some new topics already.

However said that GSEC does not have a lot of updation as per other experts.

what would be the best approach ...I want to save my training money for gcia
ive got many sec certs and have actively been doing it for 10 years
I want to sign up for just the cert attempt and see how I do with the 2011 materials on the practice test.
any recommendations ?

I do believe that using SANS training materials to prep for a GIAC exam without taking the corresponding SANS class first is a violation of the SANS/GIAC rules. The person who provided you those SANS materials is probably breaking the rules too. You should email [email protected] and ask.
