Cisco Routing TCP/IP volume I Book

Somebody recommended reading this in order to get a better understanding of network security, but it looks like more of a CCIE book. Do you think it's worth the read or should I go with something else?

While it does say CCIE series on the cover, it wasn't written with a cert in mind. If you're looking for a good in depth guide to IGPs and routing fundamentals, its a great read.
