mgmguy1mgmguy1 Member Posts: 485 ■■■■□□□□□□
I am sorry if I am asking a newbie question but I just did a show version on my equipment and I want to make sure I am looking at this correctly.
Do I have IOS 15 or do I have IOS 12.4 ?

Since getting new equipment I am starting to learn alot of little things I never noticed before using Packet Tracer.

Please advise.

    What does (15)T12 mean?

    12.4(15)T12.

IOS 12.4, Technology Train, Maintenance 15, Rebuild 12

The T indicates the Technology "Train". The T-Train typically has all the newest features while the M ("Mainline") Train has less features, but is "more" refined/stable. The numbers in parenthesis and after the T [or M] indicate the build. The order of precedence is: Major Relase (12), Minor Relase (4), Train (T), Maintenance (15), Rebuild (12)

    UPDATE:
It appears all three of my Cisco 1841 routers are running Cisco IOS Software, 1841 Software (C1841-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T12, after I was told they would have IOS 15.0 on them. I went back though my materials I got from the vendor I bought the equipment from and found a disk that was Labeled IOS. On this CD I discovered the following.

c1841-advipservicesk9-mz.151-3.T3.bin and c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.151-3.T3.bin There I am assuming are the cisco 15.0 IOS images.

I now just need to place the cisco IOS 15 image on each router. ( sigh) I am sure it will be a good exercise to do I just hate discovering that someone was lazy and did not put the IOS images on the routers as I was advised they would.

IOS 15.1 actually. This is the most recent IOS that the 1841 will run. Just a word of note, that IOS will require the Router's RAM to be maxed out (not expensive) - might be why he didn't install it.

Thanks for the tip but I am maxed out on each router @ 384 megs which I believe is more then enough for cisco IOS 15. They just didn't do it. It's fine though. I'll figure out some free time to upgrade the routers and do it. I read somewhere on here that I should invest in a cisco smart net account for at least one of my 1841 routers. Thoughts ?

Cisco 1841 (revision 7.0) with 352256K/40960K bytes of memory.
    Processor board ID FHK1205204T
    2 FastEthernet interfaces
    2 Serial(sync/async) interfaces
DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity disabled.
    191K bytes of NVRAM.
62720K bytes of ATA CompactFlash (Read/Write)

192 - 256 MB for IOS 15.1. The last 2 x 1841s I bought only came with 128 MB, which I discovered when I went to put 15.1 on them.
