Is it a good sign when?

You have an interview for approx. 3 hours and they let you have an interview with all managers inside the department? or it doesn't mean much at all.

I would assume it's a good sign, but I've heard stories like these before and the candidate didn't land the position. If you feel that you nailed the interview then that's really all that matters.

    I wouldn't read much into.

Unless they had you stay for longer to interview with these managers, it's probably how they planned to conduct the interviews from the start. It unlikely they pulled managers into your interview unplanned, especially given the high unlikelihood that all the managers would just happen to have "free" time available while you were there. Not to mention the fact most like to be prepared for that sort of thing rather than blindsided.

Getting blindsided with an interview sucks. You dont have time to review the candidates experience or form questions based on those experiences and in some cases you might struggle to form enough questions to fill the time. Not to mention, it looks bad for the company to have an unprepared manager, even if he's unprepared only because he was told about the interview minutes before it was to take place. Interviews are as much about selling the candidate your position is best for them as it is the candidate selling you that they are the best for you.

So you can almost guarantee it was planned like that.

It is a good sign, but don't read too much into it and continue to go on interviews. Trust me, I have been on some fanstatic interviews, some would call me a few weeks later saying how much they enjoyed interviewing me, but they are still interviewing people. Ugh, I hate the ones that think they have to interview the whole world. Anyway, I digress.

Time is valuable. If they gave you 3 hours of their time I would think that is a good thing. Good luck!

This should be a very positive step. Remember to take deep breathes. Good luck on Tuesday!

Be honest and more importantly be yourself. Sounds like you may be on to something good here.

Sounds like a good thing, unless they are just terrible at interviews - good luck!

So the Interview went well (another 3.5 hours mind you) and they gave me the benefits package but they didn't talk about the salary, however, they showed me the building, co-workers, met with the director who told me I aced the technical interview as well. However 10 days have passed with nothing from their end, I contacted them via e-mail yesterday but they didn't reply and I checked their website and the vacancy isn't there. Should I call or assume the worst that I didn't get the job?

If they've pulled the job posting and you haven't heard from them at all, it sounds like they filled the position with someone else. I'd assume the worst and keep looking. Unfortunately a lot of employers choose to not contact other applicants to let them know if a position has been filled.

Although you might luck out and they call you out of the blue in a week or two; I wouldn't wait for it.

I would call monday afternoon and leave a message. If they don't get back to you then you can assume the worst.

I would assume they will notify you if you have not been selected for the position, especially this far along in the process. My guess would be is they are getting approvals from up the chain to make you an offer for the position. Good job on acing the technical too, those can be ball busters!

Are you kidding? Most firms will NOT inform you when you don't get the job and avoid you at all cost. If they do inform you, it is sometimes several weeks/months down the line.

That's what I hate the most, if you invited me to come to your place TWICE, each time, you interviewed me for 3.5 hours, not mentioning the two-one hour phone interviews plus the 1/2 hour commuting from home to get to your place, at least notify me, when I don't get the job. If I got to the final stage of interviewing and I spent THAT MUCH time interviewing with them, totally blanking me out would not reflect good on them. I can understand them not replying back to me if I failed the first round of interviews but after almost spending 8 hours doing interviews with them, the decent thing would have been at least sending me an e-mail that I didn't get the job.

Yeah most of my experiences have been different, getting at least a courtesy email, but after reading your posts I flashed back to a couple interviews that it was the 'avoid at all cost' you speak of. I remember that really, really ticked me off.

I guess after not job hunting for so long I forgot about that side of business, though I've also had jobs contact me 3 weeks after a final interview after ignoring repeated attempts to get in contact with them, so I guess it kind of depends on experiences.

    Dear Omar,

Thank you for your application regarding the position as xxxxxxxxxxxx.

We wish you the best of luck in your career search. Thank you again for your interest in xxxx xxxxxxxxx.

    Yours sincerely,
    xxxx

I feel like crying. I am depressed. I wasted 8 hours, 8 HOURS on them interviewing and they send me an automated e-mail not even explaining why I was not chosen. Bear in mind that they were the ones who told me I aced the technical and that I done my research on the company very well. I don't know what to do. I feel like throwing myself off a cliff now. Maybe I can stumble on a job on the way down. icon_cry.gif

As bad as you may feel it's all apart of the process when it comes to searching for a job these days. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. I do agree that those times were pretty excessive only to tell me that I didn't land the position.

While the disappointment of this interview is present, take the fact that you aced the technical interview and build on it. That should boost your confidence tremendously. Can you think of anything that made you overly nervous during the process? If so, work on that. A quiet confidence is what employers are looking for, when they are asking questions lean slightly into the question, towards the questioner. Body language is important in an interview. The fact that they chose someone else in no way looks bad for you, in some fashion the fit was not right. Keep your chin up, keep applying, and the right opportunity will arise. It takes time and persistence, and a winning attitude, that will land the position you are looking for. Best of luck!
