hahaha, actually they are two
first, about ccie cert guide, how well it is for ccie v5 ?
and the second is about IOS v15, because I have v12 installed, so do I really need to upgrade to 15 ?

Hi oudmaster,
Well for ccie, just as most of us are working towards it, many books/resources are needed depending on the technology that you want to deal with e.g. the Internet Routing Architecturesby Sam Halabi when you are doing BGP section etc. So all the books you have mentioned will be relevant, only that you may add more on top. IOS upgrade is necessary so that you don't get results that are not as expected esp. if you are using vendor workbooks where they are using different IOS, I would rather have a code with the same with the vendor or even higher coz of bugs etc in some IOS codes.
I would advice you check ccie v5 RnS expanded blueprint to verify the new topics.

I wouldn't think completely so, you may need to replace the XM routers but being the new lab is all virtual you still should be good learning and practicing the technologies on the existing hardware. there are parts of my rack i will have to upgrade with v15 but its not something i'm sweating over as v12 is still enough to do so, outside of some features and code syntax differences. upgrade the parts you can and keep it moving
