NOC Technician!!!!! That's right baby, hard work pays off but most of all it's not giving up that will eventually take you to your goal. I could go back now and search my old posts where I claimed certain things and quote myself to give you an image of a dedicated person and I know not long ago I claimed with capital letters that I WILL get a job no matter what and you know what, I didn't get a job, I got everything I ever really wanted for the past 14 years of my life. Today my dear TE friends, my dreams come true and I start a new life. And to think how close I was to giving up on everything. I stopped applying for jobs last week, sent over 150 applications, got 4 calls altogether, 2 interviews and two offers. So go figure... I blame the recruiters.
Honestly, I was never even counting on getting a callback let alone an interview and I was thinking to myself should I just stay at home and take the other offer or go and make a fool out of myself when they start asking questions I don't know the answers to. But then I looked at my screen background where it says with big block letters as a reminder "step out of your comfort zone" and I went, totally open minded. I couldn't even believe my own ears when they said they're very much considering me for the role, I didn't show it on the outside but I was bursting with emotions. I had to tell them about the offer I have received just yesterday from another company, which I was afraid it would be understood as pressuring, but they were understanding and they offered me a job right away.
I couldn't be happier right now, honest. I know I will be very good at this job because this is something I enjoy from the bottom of my heart and when you wake up everyday with a smile on your face knowing that for the next few hours you're going to do what you absolutely enjoy, then nothing is difficult or impossible and becoming the best in the field is just a question of time. It's that dedication and enthusiasm that make you a good computer engineer and a good ROI from the employer's perspective. It's a win-win situation.
Thank you for all the good words of support. You are truly a good community and I'm happy to be part of it. I'll leave you with this quote "people who quit don't know how close they were to achieving their goal". Cheers!

coloradogeek99 Member Posts: 31 ■■□□□□□□□□This is inspiring as I myself have been putting in hard work and it seems nobody even looks twice at me because my lack of experience. Well it just so happens that my lack of experience is because nobody is willing to give a guy a shot with just certs. I too have been contemplating if I have chose the right path and whether I should stick to it or not. You have just reassured me that maybe there is someone out there willing to take a risk.

@Asif Dasl
It's actually just north of London and I will be moving out this week, as soon as possible. Yes, 3-4 weeks but those were long weeks, felt like an eternity. Can't wait to move out of this **** and have a decent shower. Great hearing from you again.
@coloradogeek99
I used to think the same way and then I decided to do something instead of just waiting. I set up a hobby project that evolved through years and I was able put something on my CV to show my potential employer that even though I don't have commercial experience, I know how to do things which I learned on my own and that I'm a capable person. So be proactive and most importantly be patient. It takes some people a year, some it takes few years, it took me 14 - unfortunately. But I didn't give up and you shouldn't too. Instead of dwelling on the negative things, find one positive bit and focus on that. Build on it and go forward, because if you really desire something and you work hard then not achieving it is simply not possible. Good luck to you. -

linuxlover Banned Posts: 228Thank you all so much. Yes it's a perfect fit for me, that's why I didn't even blink when they offered me the job. I wouldn't take anything else for 10x more money, honestly. Money is important in life but you need to see it as a tool and treat it as a slave, because if you're a slave to the money instead of being a master, then you will be ruined as a person. I don't know if it's ethically correct to discuss the pay at this moment, so let me post in that salary thread in a few weeks. Thanks again everyone, now let me brush up on my neglected Windows skills.
