I tried to compile a list of free training, webinars, etc. that some may find useful for fulfilling CBT requirements for various certs... these are geared towards security, as that is the field that I am in, but please add any others that you know of. http://teex.com/teex.cfm?pageid=NERRTCprog&area=NERRTC&templateid=1856

Fat32 Member Posts: 9 ■□□□□□□□□□Hi folks. I passed my exam last year and still could not get a clear picture on how to maintain the certification while not being actively employed in the IT Security field. I recently switched jobs and IT Security is not a core part of my new job. Of course there is an option to keep earning more advanced certifications, but I wanted to figure out the way without it.
I did some research and based on the newly posed CEP CompTIA guidelines http://certification.comptia.org/docs/default-source/certification-documents/ce_chartv11.pdf?sfvrsn=2, here is what my plan on how to obtain 50 CEUs. Feel free to make suggestions.
Plan A: Free webinars + Free online college course via Courseera.org
1. 10 CEUs: Sit on 10 free SANS webinars: https://www.sans.org/webcasts/upcoming
2. 40 CEUs: Go through CourseEra.org IT Security free web based course https://www.coursera.org/courses?orderby=upcoming&cats=cs-systems
TOTAL: 50 CEUs = Profit!
Plan B: Free webinars + Post a blog + Attend free IT Security courses
1. 10 CEUs: Sit on 10 free SANS webinars: https://www.sans.org/webcasts/upcoming
2. 16 CEUs: Write InfoSec article/blog
3. 24 IT Security Course: (need to clarify how hours awarded "10 CEUs per completion of 3-4
credit hour course") TEEX Information Technology / Online Training
TOTAL: 50 CEUs = Profit! -

Some more I found, haven't looked at them closely yet, but seem to be SOX related.

WillyCo Registered Users Posts: 1 ■□□□□□□□□□Hey Fat32, the TEEX link you posted is coming up with a 404 error. Do you have a more current link? I keep poking around the website but I'm not finding anything that screams "IT Security Course!"
I could really use some free courses, in the same boat you are, not in the field anymore but want to keep my certs.
And if I could earn 40 CE's in the next two weeks it would help. Yeah, I procrastinated a little bit on this one. -

In order to receive the full two credit hours, all four classes in the Cybersecurity for IT Professionals track must be successfully completed. After registering for this online course, you will receive an email with instructions for getting started. If you do not receive a confirmation within one hour, please contact us."
Does this mean that you won't even get 10 CEUs since this is only 2 credits? Or can I count 2 x 3 TEEX programs (see below) which is total of 6 credits thus giving you 2x10 CEUs?- Online for Everyone - Non-Technical (Cyber 101)
