Looking for a career overseas (Contractor)

Hello Techexams,

I've been interested in obtaining a technology position (System Admin, Tier 3, System Engineer type roles. Windows, linux, hadoop, etc) overseas (Germany, Italy, southern Africa, UK) in the government contracting world. If anyone here has any knowledge / information of those types of positions please PM me.

Thanks for the link. I haven't looked there yet. I was posting here to see if anyone had connections or any openings. I've been looking through linked in quite a bit and some of the top contracting companies and now I will be using the website you sent! Thanks.

Assuming you are a US citizen looking for a job on an installation overseas somewhere?

clearancejobs.com was posted earlier and is a good one, but is obviously mostly wanted cleared people. Apply for any that only require a Secret, as they are not hard to get and companies do not mind covering that (assuming no felonies)... avoid the TS positions as it is highly unlikely a company will pay and wait for you to get a clearance that high.

Another is indeed.com. Outside of that, go to individual contractor websites like ITT Exelis (they suck but will be easiest and fastest), SAIC, GDIT, Raytheon, Mantech, MacAulay Brown and about 100 others. MAKE SURE you upload your resume to at least the 2 sites mentioned and state in the resume and on the profile where you are open to relocating.

Tons of jobs are never even listed publicly and done entirely by recruiters searching publicly shared resumes on those big sites. (my last 3 jobs, they found me)

Thanks for the advice and information! Yes, I have my TS with SCI and was planning on using that to obtain a position overseas working for the DoD or Department of State.

Having your TS/SCI should make this process a lot easier, that is the situation I was in myself in the past since I was prior-service. Let us know where you end up going, hopefully somewhere fun!

If you already have your TS, then immediately load your resume on to clearancejobs and indeed... however, keep in mind that those sites are almost entirely advertising contractor positions so if the goal is to go DoD, USAjobs is about your only option... and that could take a while.

I would suggest going contractor for now and keep applying for gov jobs while you are happy in a contractor position overseas.

Germany always has tons of jobs open for cleared IT folks. Next easiest is probably UK. Id stay away from the big bucks in Afghan because we are still pulling out and jobs are lost daily out there. Kuwait or one of the other non-combat arab countries arent bad and pay pretty well also. And dont know if you consider Hawaii or Guam overseas, but they are usually fairly easy to get into with a TS also (just left my TS net engineer position in HI a few months ago and got calls all the time while there).

I don't think USAJobs would be the logical choice for the OP since he mentions wanting to go the contracting route and as far as I know USAJobs is GS/Civil Service positions. You say that USAJobs is his only option if wanting to go DoD, which is false, DoD employs countless contractors.

How was HI by the way? I have a TS as well and wouldn't mind checking out HI myself!
