    I used to fill them out in the past, but over the years I've decided not to. I understand why it's there, but I want to be the right candidate for the job based on my skills, certs, experience, & education...NOT because of my race, gender, and etc.

    I fill it out. However, I don't fall into any minority categories, so I don't think it matters that I fill it out.

    I always leave them blank or choose no answer. I do the same thing for certification surveys (blank, no answer, or I choose very low).

    It depends on my mood. Sometimes I will, sometimes I won't. If I've been filling out a ton of applications, I usually skip it.

    I usually do not respond to those questions.
    IT guy since 12/00

    Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
    Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

    Hell yaI fill it out...I don't mind at all being a quota hire..I got kids to feed...if that box gets me in the door over you I am going to take it!!! Shoot I was in the military also and check that box...got the DD-214 to prove it.

    I have applied for 9 jobs (yes, I know... not enough lol) and have noted a trend regarding this.

    Stats:
    5 jobs - I did not fill out this information - all 5 of those employers contacted me
    4 jobs - I did fill out this information - 0 of those employers contacted me

    Low numbers to form an opinion, I realize. I am not taking any chances though.

    I agree with Leif. This is a cutthroat world, and anything that can get me an interview over someone else I will take.

    That's concerning, almost to the point of prejudice. I've filled out 2 apps so far and filled in the race section and haven't been contacted yet...

    I used to fill them out, then noticed a lack of response. However, I was approached last year about being a System Engineer, and one of the main reasons I was targeted because they needed racial diversity higher in their organization (Japanese company) it was hard finding blacks with my qualifications. I was turned off at the revelation.

    I know for fact I don't see many folks in IT from my background and racial group, it is what it is... but to be pushed to the head of an opportunity because of it, I don't work that way. I bust my arse for everything I earn, the ^%$^%$ I want a position just because I'm black..icon_mad.gif Put me in equal level and I'm going to kick ass, and damn it, I wouldn't want it any other way.

    Yes, I will no longer be filling out the AA information as I feel it does more harm than good.
