DV, because of it's nature, takes a very long time anyway. Assume you are aware of the full process of DV? -

puertorico1985 Member Posts: 205Back in 2012, I was extended a conditional job offer that required a clearance before I started working for the company. I filled out all the paperwork and submitted it, resubmitted the paperwork several times due to the slowness of the process. Several months later, the ball started rolling, and I begin to speak with all pertinent individuals, and all my contacts and references started getting contacted. All in all, it took 14 months for my clearance to get finalized, and every minute of it was as agonizing as you can imagine. Worst of all, the clearance process took so long that the job that was initially offered was no longer available. So, just understand that depending on what level clearance you will be getting, it can be for an extremely long and slow process.

ScrawnyRonnie Member Posts: 112I've recently started applying for positions that require clearance. I've never gone through the process and hope one of these companies is willing to do that for me.

the_Grinch Member Posts: 4,165 ■■■■■■■■■■I saw DV and thought whoa a clearance I hadn't heard of! Didn't realize you're in the UK thus you have different names for things. DV seems to be much like our TS/SCI. Those take anywhere between four months to two years and largely depends on your background. Had one job and lived in the same town your whole life? Much quicker then if you moved every year for the past ten years and held a different job with each move. In the US there has been a move to standardize and computerize everything for the process, but each agency is slightly different. ICE did everything online, but one agency had me fill out a pdf and had some autocheck features.WIP:

ScrawnyRonnie Member Posts: 112I got an email earlier from a recruiter about a position I applied for. I'm guessing I fit what they were looking for, but I don't have clearance and that eliminated me. Catch 22 since it takes forever to be cleared and the positions listed need to be filled in a short time frame. I would have no issues be cleared as well...
