Would you mind critiquing my CV?
CJWelch89
Hello all!
Please critique my CV, I've done the best I can - hope it doesn't bore you too much. To me, it seems lacking in direction? Any and all advice would be much appreciated!

Anyone?

- Summary could use some work, give a brief summary of your IT knowledge and list specific areas of expertise.
- On your certs you list a brief description of the cert, anyone in IT should be familiar with entry level certs especially someone who looks at a number of resumes. Remove the cert descriptions.
- I would do away with the key skills and knowledge section. Your resume should go in this order ( remember, this is my opinion )
Intro: brief summary
Certs/ areas of expertise
Career history
Schooling
Maybe volunteer work last.
- This all depends on your strengths and weaknesses. If you have very little certs, then I would list them after experience, same goes for schooling. If you have a masters then I would list that after my intro along with my certs. Make sense?
- I see no reason to list your basic college courses unless you are taking IT specific courses.
- Everything is a bullet, leave bullets for the areas you want to stand out or highlight in your resume. Include a brief summary if you want below each position you have held and then list bullets for the info you want to stand out.
- Your resume is 4 pages long, far too many. Imagine yourself reviewing a number of resumes every day for a position you just posted, are you gonna read every single page of every resume submitted or look for the important info in order to decide who to interview and weed out? You should be able to condense all that down to 1 or 2 pages. Far too much empty space.
I'm a fan of making my resume stand out, with that said seeing a black and white resume looks boring to me, I would add some color such as maybe a light blue for the headings of each section. Just a thought.
