I just got my a+. I have had a job for five years as a pc repair technician, but that was when i lived in Jamaica. I have not held a tech job since moving to the US.
my question is: would a job as a printer service technician be a good choice as that first tech job, or should i aim for something more pc related?

I would personally say aim for something more computer related, a printer tech isn't going to provide you many useful skills to help you advance.

If you're currently jobless and have an offer though take it. Worst case you keep searching around while getting some experience.

Unless your jobless and in need of immediate income I would look for a help desk or desktop support position to improve your skills especially since you already have five years of experience. As a printer service technician, you won't improve much on your technical skills if you wanted to advance to systems or networks...unless you wanted to specialize in printer repair?

I am unemployed at the moment. was working in the sales capacity for the last few years. I have decided I wanted to get back to doing what I love, which is working with computers. I need money, but I also want to make the best choice in jobs that will put me on the path i want to embark. So, I think the best thing to do is wait for that entry level IT job like u guys said.
