Networking Interview Monday - Hardware Help

I just got a call for a second interview Monday for a networking job. My first interview was very technical, and while I felt it was brutal and I wasn't able to answer as many of the questions asked, the interviewer said he was impressed my theoretical and software knowledge. My college offers two different net admin tracks for an A.S., a CCNA leaning hardware track or an MCSA leaning software track and I chose the software, so my weaknesses lie in not being as familiar with the hardware.

He let me know to review stacks, switches, routers, fiber, and to be able to talk about the basic protocols. I've been going through the CCNA FAQs and hitting Google, and plan on revving up some of my online networking labs through school, but do you guys have any links or tips that would be helpful in a weekend cramming?

In my favor is that he stated he really wants me on the team in any capacity, there's both an internship and a position I would be eligible for, I just want to demonstrate that I have that passion and drive.

I don't have any tips about cramming since I'm not a network engineer. But best of luck to you on your interview. Get a good night's sleep the night before!

If you are not already comfortable with VLANs and VPNs (both branch office and mobile user), I would strongly recommend you watch some Youtube videos and read up on them so you can talk a little about them.

Seems like a more hands-on networking role rather than an engineering role. I would just make sure you know all your fiber endings, copper endings and types, aswell as recognize different switches like the 2950,3550,3560,3750, 6500's. Go on google and look at some pictures of them, learn what a supervisor engine is if you don't already know what it is and know the boot process for each of them.

Of course if you told me it was more of an engineering role I would of told you to be solid on your BGP and IGP's aswell as STP and your LAG protocols. There is of course many advanced topics that they can ask you questions on like Redistribution, QoS, Security, MPLS, Multicast, NAT, L3VPN, L2VPN's and tunneling protocols but I doubt they will. I sometimes do ask these questions to grill guys that seem cocky or overconfident just to see how they react.

So I did hours of video watching this weekend and studying Cisco as much as I could, so of course it ended up being the more traditional type interview. However I did talk about studying and the manager who would be my boss was again impressed with my initiative. I feel like the things going against me are lack of experience in the field. I won't hear back until next week as I was the first person interviewed, but of course I'll let TE know the outcome.
