PMP requirements are a lot more demanding and involved than ITIL, and has more traction.
[h=3]PMP Eligibility Overview[/h]To apply for the PMP, you need to have either:- A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, with 7,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.
OR - A four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent) and at least three years of project management experience, with 4,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.
If you do not meet the PMP eligibility requirements, you may want to look at the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification. - A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, with 7,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.

Just in case, Player In Management Profession (PIMP) :P -

PMP is something you kind of have to work towards. Maybe consider the CAPM first. -

ITIL more geared toward service management and the PMP is a very old school style of project management that I personally feel is only good for large projects. Building bridges or going to the Moon. You may also want to check into CSM or PMI - ACP.

I just looked up ITIL foundation exam cost from APMG, $600 for non APMP members. That's not cheap and way over-price, imo. -

With that said I hate easy exams, they pollute your resume with resume fodder. I'd rather have 1 or 2 difficult certifications than a crap ton of easy or mid level ones.
