I am pretty sure that your salary differs base on location. From this salary job thread here (http://www.techexams.net/forums/jobs-degrees/16350-job-salary-updates.html), we see some people earning higher and some people earning lower. What makes me curious what are the starting salary in your country, and how the starting salary is affected by taxes/cost of livings and local market rates? And from there maybe we can get a better feel between the different of 'high between each country'. I will go about posting my country salary for a start

Singapore
Diploma (Avg 1.8k per Month / 21K PA)
Degree - Security Field (Avg 2.5k per Month / 30k PA)
Degree - Networking Field (Avg 2.9k per Month / about 35k PA)

All salaries base on experience and what I am hearing on the ground.

So is that high or low for Singapore?

Depends on my case if you live in the city or not and the entry level job.

But - about $30,000 - $40,000 here for most Help Desk jobs.

Our cost of living here is high and so are taxes so that will get you a pretty decent apartment in the burbs.

Salaries vary wildly location. In my area, starting fresh in the Helpdesk netted me $16/hr here in Georgia which is good for this area. In California, however, not a whole lot you can do with $16/hr.
