I've been working on passing the EMC VNX Solutions Specialist for Implementation Engineers exam (E20-390). I've gone through all of the online and online-instructor led training, but unfortunately haven't been able to pass the exam. Whats crazy is that I've worked with EMC VNX and other EMC arrays for years. I feel that there are a number of questions that are purely trivia and irrelevant to knowing the product. By the way, the exam was updated on January 10th of 2014. I was wondering if anyone else has completed this exam and could offer any advice.

blargoe Member Posts: 4,174 ■■■■■■■■■□I haven't done the VNX exam, but I did finally pass the Clariion exam about 3years ago, and my recollection is the same as your experience with VNX - some questions just aren't that relevant to implementing or supporting a Clariion/VNX in a production environment. I passed it on my third (I think) attempt... there's a thread about my experiences around here somewhere. I remember a combination of Unisphere Help, VNX Whitepapers on the hardware and software components, and course materials are all covered in the exam.
Did you happen to catch which knowledge domains you were weaker in (I don't remember whether or not this is covered on the score report)?IT guy since 12/00
Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands... -
