How many places do you apply to at once?

When you're actively searching for a new job (whether currently unemployed or not), how liberal are you with job applications/sending your resume out? Sometimes I feel like a slut with how open I am to applying to things aligned with my goals. Then again I guess there are just that many opportunities available in NYC as well.

networker050184 Mod Posts: 11,962 ModI apply to anything I find interesting. Whether that is 1 or 100 positions depends on whats out there. I wouldn't not apply to a place just because I've applied to others. An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.

This sums it up. -
kohr-ah Member Posts: 1,277It depends really. Some weeks I have applied to 20 things, some weeks I have only applied to 1.
Oddly enough living near Chicago there are plenty of jobs but as of late there haven't been a lot of mid level engineering jobs unless I want to drive 40 - 50 miles per way per day (No thank you) -

Apply to as many as you can do reasonable quality (meaning, cater the resume to the job, proof read etc).
Even with stellar qualifications you'll get some hits and you'll have some misses, but you're only trying to find that one. -
mikeybikes Member Posts: 86 ■■□□□□□□□□It greatly depends on how much of a hurry I'm in to find another job.
When I'm unemployed, or my contract is ending, I apply to quite a few jobs as long as it mostly aligns with what I want.
When I'm employed and in a tolerable job, I'm very picky about where I'm applying as it usually doesn't matter to me if I go somewhere next month or in six months. -
jvrlopez Member Posts: 913 ■■■■□□□□□□I apply to all those that are available at that time that I believe I qualify for.
The best part is when you get various call backs for interviews and then have to make a decision on which job to choose. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. Xyro Member Posts: 623I apply to all entry-level helpdesk positions within a 60-mile radius. That is usually 1-3 per day.
Edit:
I am considering that I should alter this to 75 miles and will likely be doing so soon. That should add another 1 or 2 jobs a day hopefully.
