I want to pursue a career in Desktop Engineering. I want to do desktop imaging, builds, deployments and remote desktop services.
It seems MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure is what I should focus on. However, are there any other certifications/skillsets that are required to become a desktop engineer that's outside the MCSE cert?

Do you already have certifications? in your case an MCSA in either win 7 or win 8 might also be worthwhile even if they don't lead directly to the same path. Do you have related work experience? Also on the engineering side you might want to consider 70-243 as it is something that you would use a good bit in a System Center environment.
