Will taking the new Security+ test renew all lower level certs?

Hi everyone -

I currently have the following certs - A+, Network+, Security+. They all expire at the end of this year.

I have heard that a new version of the Security+ cert is coming out next month. (May)

I have not completed *any* CE/continuing education credits.

My question is - if I were to take (and pass) the new Security+ exam next month, will that (by its self) renew all of my certifications? (A+, Network+, Security+ all extended for 3 years?)

Or would I also have to complete additional CE credits?

It seems to me like it should renew everything... but the CompTIA website is not clear to me.

Thanks for any info.

Out of curiosity, would taking the current version of the security+ exam (the one I originally took) also renew everything?

    Yup. Either-or.

You can also use higher level certs as CEs and renew your cert - my CCNA gave me CEs to renew my A+ and Net+ (but not my Sec+). However, the most straight-forward way if you're in a time crunch and want all three renewed would probably be to retake the Sec+ - in either iteration.

Renewing the highest of the 3 (sec+) will renew the other 2 under it (A+, Net+).

Passing security+ will net you the amount needed to renew it for another 3 years. After that, it's just a matter of paying your annual dues.
