HCISPP and new EU regulations

Hi all!

I am preparing for the HCISPP exam, to sit it in London in early May.

As you are probably aware, there have been some recent significant changes within European data protection regulations, most notably:

1. EU Safe Harbour was ruled not fit for purpose and has just been replaced by EU Privacy Shield.
2. The EU Data Protection Directive (Act 95/46/EC) is due to be replaced shortly by the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

With that in mind, should I be focussing my study on the two new regulations, or should I continue to study the obsolete regulations?

I've also sent this question to ISC2 but wanted the opinions of this community.

Cheers!

Jon

Well, ISC2 have replied to me as follows:

"You are correct in noting the changes in the EU legislative environment over the past three months or so. At the moment, the HCISPP material and exam have *not* been updated to reflect these changes and you can use your study material ‘as is’ to prepare for the exam."

On the one hand, this is good, as it means I can stick to the current study materials. On the other hand, I'm studying obsolete regulations. Ah well!
