Server+ or Linux+ first?

After failing the CASP, I need to brush up on my knowledge of Linux, and probably servers too. So I was probably going to take both Linux+ and Server+

for those that have taken both, should I take one before the other?

I don't think there's a lot of Linux material in the Server+ track. If you are going for more Linux knowledge, studying for Linux+/LPIC is a better bet.

What exactly about servers do you need to know?
You might be able to just learn that material and skip the Server+ exam.

I would still say go for Linux+, but what help you understand servers better is going for the Microsoft Server certs. I haven't really seen much advertised for Server+ (which is why I skipped and went for an MSCA). Understanding some light VMWare and any cloud certs is useful for servers... depending on where your trying to go with this.
    Cert Goals: CISSP-ISSAP (May 2016) | CISM (2016) | GSEC (2016) | OSCP (2017)
College: MBA Project Management (2012) | Bachelors IT Management (2010)
Experience: Cyber Security, Information Assurance, and IT Management Officer

It hasn't helped me one bit finding job opportunities and its focused on the hardware side of things (its also a worthless certification). Linux + is an operating system based certification, so go with that.

    Skip the Server+
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

Linux+. If you understand the material, you'll be on your way to administrating Linux servers.
