Go For Windows 8 or Windows 10 Cert?

Hi all,
Currently waiting to hear back from the Army about my Net+ and CASP vouchers. Theyre currently wayyyyy behind in issuing vouchers and in the mean time I want to be proactive and knock out another skill port module while I'm waiting and wanted to knock out a computing environment. So my question is:

Should I go for Windows 8 (70-687/68icon_cool.gif or should I just go ahead and go for Windows 10 (70-697)? Im weary of how much longer 8 will be relevant since DOD is already rolling out 10 or do you think 8 will stick around long enough to make the investment worth it?

Appreciate the help beforehand.

    Would having the MCSA: Windows 8 and MCSA: Windows 10 have any positive affect on your promotion boards? If not, I'd focus on Windows 10.

    As far as promotion boards go, no. I just need a computing environment to get OU admin rights. Was just looking more at 8 because I'm much more familiar with it but considering 10 was more along the lines of long-term thinking.

    Honestly, if you understand 8 you should be able to transfer the knowledge quickly for 10.

    Cool. Guess I'll start studying up on 10 then. I actually installed it when they were handing free copies. As soon as i rebooted, half my stuff stopped working. Printer drivers crapped out. Had windows 10 for all of 10 minutes before I rolled it back haha.

    Oddly enough, when I encountered driver issues, I just installed the Windows 8 version and most of the time that would work.

    From my understanding you currently have to have MCSA Windows 8 to achieve MCSA Windows 10.

    Taking the 70-697 alone with net you only the Specialist certification.

    This looks to be right (which is odd)

    But since the Windows 8 exams are expiring in July I'd have to assume this will be updated with some new exams for Windows 10 soon.

    I would say so. They extended MCSA Windows 8 and put it into MCSA Windows 10 because of how many features overlap.

    There will be a replacement exam, some rumor it to be the 70-398 (I think).

    One of my biggest gripes (today) with Microsoft Certifications is that they initially said there would be no MCSA: Windows 10. Then they said you must have the MCSA: Windows 8 to upgrade to MCSA: Windows 10. Now, only time will tell whether or not they will change yet again and create a two test Windows 10 MCSA. Don't even get me started with their vague EOL dates for the various exams...
