LenniusceLenniusce Member Posts: 114 ■■■■□□□□□□
In see an exam offered to upgrade my MCSA Win 7 to 8, but I would like to skip this and go straight to Windows 10 if given the opportunity. Any bridge exam for this?

Exams for Windows 10 have not been announced yet but I believe there will be an upgrade path.

Agree with what has been said. Given the popularity of Win 7 and the flop of Win 8 I am positive there will be a direct upgrade path.

Keep an eye on https://borntolearn.mslearn.net as they are sometimes the first ones to discuss cert updates.

When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep, So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler And your need like an armed man.

    Terms and conditions

    • The Step up offer is available to individuals who earn an MCSA: Windows 8 certification between 15 February 2015 and 31 May 2015.
    • The Step up offer consists of one free attempt at Windows 10 Exam 697 when it becomes available.
    • To redeem the free Windows 10 exam, you must sign in to the Microsoft site prior to scheduling your exam.
    • You must take Exam 697 no later than 31 May 2016.

So you must be certified MCSA: Win8 between Feb 15, 2015 and May 31, 2015 in order to qualify for the "step up" offer.
    That seems rather stringent.

Does anyone have any new insights on a direct upgrade path from Windows 7 MCSA to a Windows 10 MCSA?

I find it ridiculous that a path may not exist. there are many more Win7 MCSAs and skipping a Windows 8 MCSA would save time and money. Windows 8 is pointless and it doesn't have wide adoption and companies have waited for Windows 10. The entire DoD will migrate to Windows 10 come Jan 2017, so I want to get the certification on my radar as soon as I can.

I think you can just take the 70-697 exam to be certified as a MCSA in Windows 10 if I am not mistaken. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcsa-windows-10-certifications.aspx If you earned your MCSA in Windows 8 between February 15, 2015 and May 31, 2015 you can take the exam for free. It seems rather odd that they have just 1 exam to become MCSA in Windows 10, not sure if this will change down the line.

Because the Win 8 exam have been retired. Looks like you need to take both Win 10 exams to be certified.
    Certifications:
MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, MCSA: Windows Server 2016, ITIL Foundation, MCSA: Windows 10, MCP, Azure Fundamentals, Security+.
